A Poetic Essay on Sacred Responsibility
There is a thread,
subtle as breath, strong as bone,
that runs through every moment of a life lived in reverence.
It is the thread of responsibility.
Not the kind forged by fear or enforced by guilt,
but the golden thread that awakens when a soul remembers
it is here by choice.
And that choice is holy.
Responsibility is not a burden;
it is a belonging.
It is the quiet knowing that this breath, this body, this being,
was entrusted to you.
That the way you rise, the way you speak,
the way you love and hurt and heal,
all ripple into the great tapestry of existence.
It is the sacred act of tending to the life that moves through you
as if it were a flame in the palm of your hand.
Tender. Potent. Alive.
How you walk, where you place your feet,
what you consume, how you create,
these are not meaningless.
They are medicine. Or they are poison.
And you get to choose which you serve.
Responsibility is what brings soul back into matter.
It is what anchors light into form.
It is what makes a mother hold her child
not just with arms, but with intention.
It is what makes a leader choose truth over comfort.
It is what makes an artist kneel before the muse
and ask, “How may I serve?”
This world is aching
for those who remember how to be responsible
with their power.
With their words.
With their attention.
Because attention is worship.
And what we give it to, we give life to.
We are no longer children pretending we do not know.
We are no longer bypassing the cost of our disconnection.
We feel it, in our waters, our bodies, our dreams.
To live responsibly is to live in alignment.
Not perfection but alignment.
With truth.
With presence.
With soul.
Responsibility is sacred rebellion
in a world built on avoidance.
It is saying: I will not turn away.
I will meet life with my whole being.
I will carry what is mine to carry,
not because I must,
but because I was born to.
